Job Description Job Description Summary • The NSH will study the virulence mechanisms of Pantoea ananatis, a rice bacterial pathogen. They will collaborate with a national network of researchers. Essential Job Duties • General microbiology lab skills. • Molecular genetic skills. Genetically manipulate bacteria and characterize the genetic alterations (cloning, transformation, conjugation, sequencing, PCR, etc). • Plant pathology skills. Inoculate plants with bacterial pathogens and evaluate colonization of the plants by the bacteria. • Genomic skills. Genome analysis of microbes and plants. • Data analysis skills. Statistically analyze and report on data. • Mentoring skills. Supervise undergraduate researchers. • Will design experiments to characterize microbial virulence.…
