About this role
Requires high level skill and decision making in the practice of obstetrics and gynecology including prenatal care and routine vaginal deliveries. The provider works independently with physician back-up. The CNM must demonstrate good judgement in when to seek consultation. The CNM requires a broad skillset. In addition to the provision of prenatal, labor and delivery, and post-natal care, the CNM provides care to newborns in the immediate neonatal period and up to (4) weeks of age and routine women’s GYN care including the ability to do pap smears, contraception, and sexual healthcare within scope.
